ive read it’s a face scanner but i’m not on my lock screen and people also said i can’t see it with a naked eye but i clearly saw it with my own eyes? i’m so confused? what is this?

It is the proximity sensor and it is normal. There is no water sensor as such, there are moisture exposure strips.

water from where? i have dropped it in water or anything. my phone is new as well so i don’t think that’s it
It likely is for Face ID or perhaps it's the ambient light sensor. Either way, it's not something to worry about. I can occasionally see the sensor on my 5s.
