Billing problems and no new updates

I cant make updates and just get the message of billing problems. What did I buy?

Thank you very much for the response and the information. The exact problem was that I shouldn’t have been billed for apparently “free” updates. I never experienced this before and wrote also to Apple admin about the billing problem and deduction of money weekly from my account. They explained to me how to go about and resolved by indicating none and ever since this unresolved issue.
