Photos is Extremely Slow

I have an iMac, Retina 5K, 1 TB (320 GB available) running Mojave 10.14.2. Ever since upgrading to Mojave my entire system is running very slowly, especially Photos. Opening Photos, editing, closing .... everything takes considerably more time. Sometimes I have to Force Close and start over.

Any thoughts on what may be the issue?

Thank you.

There is no personal data in the report. The full disk access give Etrecheck access to diagnostic reports and additional console logs. Just more data on the state of the Mac.

All I see in the report that I would question is time since boot: 11 days. I'm of the school of rebooting each day to clear out numerous temp caches, swap files, etc. Doing so will help with memory. If you're not into shutting down each night then try booting into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, about once a week.

Where is your library located? If on an external HD how is the drive formatted and connected to your Mac? How big is the library and is it a "managed" or "referenced" library?

As a test launch Photos with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Download and run Etrecheck.  Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Use the Add Text button to include the report in your reply:

Also assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck so that it can get more information for the report:
