After Shut Down, my SIL is still on.
After Shut Down, my SIL is still on and stays on until I turn on the computer again. Computer is definitely off not sleeping, but obviously something is wrong. What can I do?

I think it must not be sleeping or shutting down really...
Post a report from this please...

Thanks,
The sleep indicator light (SIL) on a MacBook Pro remains on automatically as long as your MacBook is closed but still has power running to it. This light can really shine in a dark room when you're trying to sleep and people have tried solutions ranging from putting a piece of tape over the light to covering the MacBook with a blanket. Fortunately you can adjust the power settings so the hard disk powers down when you're not actively using the MacBook, leaving the sleep indicator light off.
MY problem is not when computer is in sleep mode. My problem is that when the computer is OFF, the light (SIL) is usually off too, but now it stays on. The screen is black adn cannot be accessed until I turn on the computer again, yet that little SIL light remains on all the time.
I followed both those and the Sleep Indicator Light (SIL) is still on when my computer has been shut down. I cannot access the computer, and when I turn it on it appears normal startup. So it is definitely off, but some power must be getting through to the SI light.
Thanks for your suggestions so far. Anything else to suggest please?
What is an SIL?
My sleep indicator light at foot of screen remains on when computer is off.
Excellent question.
Ah, dialbrain's latest reply may fix it.
Just curious, what Mac do you own?
Mac Pro (late 2013)
I see. I'm surprised it has an SIL since Mac Pros plug into an outlet. My iMacs don't.
Shut down
"When you choose
the Shut Down command, OS X first turns off the GPU. This causes the
display to turn off. When the display turns off, the SIL turns on.
During the few seconds of shutdown, but before power is removed from the
main logic board, the SIL remains on and will not blink. When the
computer is fully shut down, the SIL turns off."
