Marks on stainless steel iPhone X

Im starting to get a mark on the stainless steel band on my iPhone X. Pretty much exactly the same as the attached picture.

Does anyone know what it is off and if there is any way to remove it?

I have been using the leather case

Thanks

You must have acidic skin on the supporting finger (pinkie)

If it’s the silver version all you can do yourself is carefully polish it with tiny amounts of a chrome polish on a fine cloth or chamois, but unlike the top end, the grille can get polish up the holes.

The space gray version is painted so don’t polish it!

Best go to an Apple store and question the description “stainless “
