iMac wont boot - How to recover files

Hi Guys,

I'm a complete novice here so any and all help is much appreciated.

my iMac stopped booting correctly (Just get a loading screen that never loads to user selection).

First Aid via disk until fails with exit error code 8.

Tried a diskutil repairvolume and the error code 8 occurs still.

I have no backups but have 2 folders I need to get from the desktop full of photos (theyre not in iCloud).

Is there any way to either:-

A) Get this back up and running with

B) Pull off my files to then reinstall the OS

It is important that I get these files back.

Thanks!

It's entirely possible the drive has just plain failed.

It might be time to consider taking it in or finding someone with the hardware skills to remove the drive and see if they can get it to mound in an external drive caddy on another machine.

If they can't, your only other option might be spending $$$$$+ on professional data recovery.
