Help wanted: Macbook 2010 Ram Problems

I bought 2x4GB ram to replace my original 2x1GB for my Macbook 2010. It

won't accept both 4GB's but it has to have one original 1GB to accept

one 4GB. That means my max is 5GB. If I don't have one of the original

1GB's in, the Macbook gives me one beep...... There is nothing wrong

with the ram, I have tried every Google advice, but not getting a

solution. Anyone has that? Ram works in either slots, but as I mentioned

1GB in one and 4GB in the other. I run on Sierra. Thanks.
