ECC Ram on MacBook Pro 2018

Hello all! Possibly stupid question, but while browsing through "System Information" and saw the following...

Does that mean that, somehow, ECC can be enabled? I'd imagine if this is not possible it would say something along the lines of "Not supported". Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Thank you!

There is no way to install ECC memory in a Macbook. Only the Xeon processors used in the Mac Pro have the extensive Hardware-assist needed to generate and check ECC parity trees at memory speeds.

That same report is used in the Mac Pro, which features 64 data bits plus 8 check bits in its very high power ECC memory modules. It is technically possible in a Mac Pro to install the wrong (non-ECC) memory and thereby disable the ECC feature.
