whatsapp doesnt show unread message count on icon after

My Whatsapp has unread messages while I’m using the app and when I come out of the it, the icon doesn’t show the number of unread messages I have on the red oval. As soon as I open Whatsapp when the oval presents the message count and come out of the app the red oval disappears even there are unread messages. My notifications settings in WhatsApp and in phone is all allowed even the badges are allowed I forced restarted but it still the same
