Delete the account and re-add it.

If you have Google 2 factor authentication enabled and you want to use the built in mail program on your phone you will have to create an application-specific password to use with the mail app. See: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en
As an alternative you can get the gmail app from the App Store. You then don't need an app-specific password.
