An iPod nano cannot connect to the Internet on its own or be listed as an associated device. With regards to iTunes Store authorization, protected content can be synced to it if the computer with it is authorized.

If this is true, then I have lost all the music I purchased over all these years. Up until a couple days ago, my iPod Nano was doing fine. I was hacked and had to have my computer reloaded. The fellow who reloaded it said I just needed to download iTunes again. That's what I've been trying to do all afternoon, but it's now Apple and only my desktop is listed. I now have a dell lap top. Is there nothing that I can do?

Thank you, Neil; but my iPod Nano is 4th generation dating to 2008-09, Model A1285. Apparently, that makes it a dinosaur.   It's not even listed in the products shown, and I have had to change passwords so many times since it was purchased that I have no idea what the original password was.  I appreciate your efforts though.

The iPod was a gift from my daughter that I have enjoyed very much. I have even downloaded some of the old vinyl LPs from my parents collection back in the late 40's early '50's so I could enjoy them anywhere, and songs I played and recorded on my flute (unfortunately, since those songs were by me (accompanied by Karaoke CD's) I can't duplicate them for friends and family anymore, and that was the reason I recorded them to start with. Apple can't identify the copy right, etc. info. Which, of course, there is none for my flute playing. :-D I LOVE MY IPOD NANO4th generation though! Thanks again!

However, on a more positive note. when the up-grades for Apple went into effect, I downloaded a copy of my music to Groove. I was able to get that music back when I reloaded Groove to my computer. YAY! But I still don't know how to purchase music, etc. since my iPod Nano is not listed in my account.
