Apple Watch microphone fails to work

I am rejuvenating an old discussion, because it took me a long time to find the solution buried in the threads. The trigger question was simple enough, a simple matter of the microphone not working. The older your watch is, the more likely you suffer the problem I did. And if you exercise with the watch a lot, it may occur even sooner for you. It took 2 years for the problem to happen to me. What's the problem? Invisible lint buried inside the microphone port. I've gone through every single software-related tweak, with all piece up to the latest OS, and still no joy. I blew compressed air into the microphone port, just in case. Still no joy. Then I remembered when I had a problem charging my phone years ago, and that turned out to be invosible compressed lint into the lighting port. So I took a needle and VERY GENTLY poked at the inside edges of the microphone port, and then blew compressed air again. Voila! The microphone works again. This is a Gen1 watch with a current-gen iPhone. If you've used your watch more than 18 months, you should try this FIRST. It takes only 30 seconds!
