I saw that. But I am really asking a "what if" question.
I will be sad if I drop my iPhone + Smart case in the pool and the battery case dies.
But I will be mad if I drop my iPhone + Smart case in the pool and it dies and takes my phone down with it.
BTW, just because some number of perfect-condition phones were tested in ideal conditions and met a certain water-resistance (not waterproof) standard, does not mean it won't die if you drop it in a pool. Apple expressly excludes water damage from the warranty. There are many, many posts around the web from people whose iPhone XS was destroyed by minimal water contact. All the more reason to keep it away from water.
