"Unable to Send Email" ... "rejected by the server"

I deleted my outlook mailbox and then set it up again. I have checked and rechecked my settings. I can forward mail into my work mailbox from my phone, I can receive mail from outside sources into my mailbox and access it from my phone, but I cannot send new mail. I get the message "rejected by the server" .... any ideas?

Does it give any more information other than Rejected by server ?


Please check the following steps; they might solve your problem

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Passwords & Accounts
  3. Under the tab Accounts confirm your old account is deleted
  4. Select your current Outlook account
  5. Select outgoing mail server (should be smtp-mail.outlook.com unless you have a business subscription to outlook)
  6. Fill out your Username(outlook mail)
  7. Fill out your email Password
  8. Make sure the server port is set to 587


I hope this helped. these steps only apply to personal outlook mails.

If this does not solve your issue please provide more information.
