Macs are becoming much more of a target , I recently read an article in Macworld that quoted a report by Malwarebytes in March 2018 which suggested that Mac malware grew by 270 percent in 2017. There are a number of options available and I personally use Avast which is a free option. Its important you carry out your own research and don't rely on individual views which by their nature are subjectively based.

Uninstall AVAST.

I have to respectfully disagree Bob and if you had actually read my reply then you would have appreciated that the article quoted was from the company that you quite rightly IMHO passionately support namely "Malwarebytes" penned by Thomas Reed a director at the firm.
