2017 iMac Used as a Second Display

I have a 2017 iMac and was hoping to use it as a display monitor for my work computer when I work from home. Is there a way to use it through a cord connection? Or is AirPlay the only option?

Use iMac 2020 as external display for Macbook Pro 2020 (M1 Chip) Is there a way to use my iMac 2020 as an external display for my Macbook Pro 2020 with the M1 chip? I tried to use Airplay but the display gets distorted. The Macbook Pro has 2 "thunderbolt 3" ports and the imac has 2 "thunderbolt 3" ports, so I purchased the thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 3 cable with no luck displaying the pro to the imac. Any suggestions?

Mirror Macbook M1 screen to old iMac using Airplay? Can I use Airplay to mirror Macbook Air M1 screen on my old iMac mid-2011? And then hook another HDMI monitor up directly to the MacBook? I know Macbook M1 only supports one external display and this would be an easy way for me to have two large displays in my desktop setup without using the DisplayLink workaround. Thanks!

iMacs after 2014 do not support Target Display Mode. So no.
