gmail vs. googlemail

Just discovered that I actually have two Apple IDs: with gmail.com and another one with googlemail.com - must have created it accidentally when setting up my devices. I assume that unlike Gmail, Apple does not treat them as one account. It is confusing and I only need one Apple ID. Can I cancel/delete the other one, including all personal data stored in it, iCloud storage etc? Thanks
