Numbers 5.3: How to insert a line break within a cell

Hi, I am trying to create a new line within a cell and hitting 'return' results in jumping to the cell below. On previous versions of Numbers I've had, I could either press 'shift+return' or configure settings to enable the 'return' key to create an additional line in the cell. I've tried 'shift+return' and it jumps to the cell above!

I'd be grateful to know how to get around this - would really like to learn how I can set a default for the 'return' key to create a new line within a cell.

Thank you :)
