iPhone X - setup/verification code

I have just purchased an iPhone XR, and I am trying to set up my new phone restoring from icloud backup - every time i try to verify my apple id through 2 factor verification I type in the code and nothing happens. There is no 'go' or 'ok button, there is just a pinwheel in the corner but nothing else. Please help :(
