I'm trying to add my google mail account to MAIL on my computer.
I did follow all steps / but after putting my email address and click to continue / it freezes---
It worked before ....but after changing passwords it didn't anymore.
It also works fine on all other devices / Macbook / Iphone and even trying to set up on a new Mac it works with out any issues.
It looks like MAIL has a problem....?

Perhaps try setting up the account manually and not use the pre-formatted in google option.
"Select Other Mail Account"
you would need to know the incoming and outgoing server settings.
enter in the email and password then it will ask you for the server settings.
They should be as follows.
incoming: map.gmail.com
outgoing: smtp.gmail.com
What version of the operating system are you on.
I recall there was issues with Yosemite.
Finally, can you confirm that you are able to log into your google email account using a Browser.
This is to make sure the actual account is not needing any further verification.

Have you tried to delete the whole account and start again
system preference > Internet Accounts > press - (minus) to remove the account.
Then go into Mail and try to log into the google account option to try again.
Setting it up manually works !!!

I did not notice that you posted to the Yosemite group.
As I recall there were some problems with Yosemite's auto-discover which were fixed in subsequent releases.

yes I have tried this....but still the same story / it freezes when I want to set up a new google account.
have you maybe another idea ? ;)
