Cannot get itunes movie to play on my PC

Cannot get itunes movie to play on my PC

Downloaded The Greatest showman.

Menus work fine

Extras work fine.

However, when I press "play" to watch the full movie all I get is a black screen with the usual controls at the bottom. No sound and no picture but it does indicate 1 hour 46 minutes to play

I have tried:

Removing and reinstalling iTunes.

Removing and reinstalling Quick Time.

Lowering the resolution via preferences.

Using Windows 10 and fully updated as is iTunes.

What should I try next?

See If you can't stream or watch video content from the iTunes Store or third-party apps - Apple Support. You might be running into an HDCP protection issue. How is your monitor connected to the computer? I.e. VGA/DVI/HDMI?

You can stream it if it isn't currently downloaded. You should be able to remove the current download without hiding from your purchase history, but if that happens see Hide and unhide music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and books - Apple Support.

You may find HDMI to your TV works perfectly as that should be an HDCP compliant route.

Happy now I can watch films on my lap.top. Sadly, hdmi connection to the tv does not work, possibly due to the age of the tv. Hoping to get a Samsung with the iTunes app later this year which should solve all the problems. Many thanks for your assistance in solving my problem. Regards.

Thanks for your reply. I am trying to view on a three year old hip pavilion laptop. It has an Intel i5 processor and 128mb of ram. How do I go about streaming the movie if I have purchased it?

Brilliant, Streaming works. So,any ideas as to where the problem may be? Could I show the movie on my tv via hdmi or will this activate copy protection. Many thanks for your help.
