Recover deleted text messages from one of my contacts

If you have message syncing enabled there is no way to recover it (Settings, tap on your name, then iCloud - if Messages is on syncing is enabled).

If you do not have syncing enabled you can restore a backup that includes the lost messages. Note that this will overwrite everything on the phone, not just messages.
