wifi connectivity issue

So, I'm having this persistent issue where I have to disconnect and then reconnect to my WiFi network on my Mac after not having been on it for longer than like a couple hours. I looked up the support articles on this issue and one told me to open wifi diagnostics or whatever from the wifi menu. Except, mine doesn't have that option? It just says Join other network...; Create new network...; and Open Network preferences.
