iPad 2 -- cracked screen

Hi,

My iPad 2 has a cracked screen. I like my device, don't want a new or refurbished one. Could I get it repaired?

Thanks.

From reading the repair article, it appears Apple doesn't replace iPad Screens, opting instead to provide out of warranty replacements. That said, the only source who can give you a 100% definitive answer is Apple. Make an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and they can explain the options directly. Please note that even if they will provide a screen replacement only option for you, if there is any visible damage to the iPad case, they won't just replace the screen.

On a final note, there is no need to fear a refurbished device. Apple refurbs are just as good as brand new and in many cases has been through much more testing in order to qualify as a refurb.

Even if you could get a screen repair on a 7-year old iPad, the out of warranty repair cost would be very close to the cost of new iPad that is a far more capable device.

You’d be wasting a good chunk of cash getting that iPad 2 repaired.

That iPad can never be upgraded/updated past iOS 9.3.5 and at this late date, app developers are starting to move away from supporting iOS 9 compatible apps.

Apple stopped supporting that iPad model close to 3 years, ago.

It is really NOT worth the high cost of an out of warranty repair of a 7-year old iPad.

Sorry.

It is the way it is.

Best of Luck to You!
