Load OS 10.4 on MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro that I need to load 10.4 on. Currently I have El Cap loaded on the system and am unable to install my Tiger install disks. Please help!

It would require a machine specific Install Disk, none of the Retail 10.4 Discs will work as none are high enough & all were PPC only except for the expensive $299 to $999 10.4 Server Discs...

Or if you can get 10.4.11 already installed on external drive then hold alt on startup.

I have no experience installing OLDER OS X software than what is currently running on a Mac

Let's hope BDAqua has ;-)

Meanwhile...

  • Make sure that the DVDs are "readable"
  • insert DVD 1
  • shut down / restart
  • on start up, hold down the "C" key until you see the DVD's startup screen - it takes a LOT longer

I am not sure whether you will have to wipe the drive

Play around with what you see while booted from the DVD - this may be easier than I think

I think you guys are correct about the drivers. Using the disks that came with the MBP, the install disk is not recognized. In the packaging with the MBP I also received a Leopard install disk. I didn’t think much of it at the time. Regarding the Nikon software apparently it has a few features that are unique to repairing images while scanning. I will try Leopard so hopefully the Nikon software will run on 10.5.

Thanks again ... talk soon

Yes, that is the limit...

Details:*This system can run the last version of OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" and OS X 10.9 "Mavericks" although it does not support the AirDrop, AirPlay Mirroring, or Power Nap features. It also supports the last version of OS X 10.10 "Yosemite" and OS X 10.11 "El Capitan," but no advanced features are supported. It is not supported booting into 64-bit mode when running Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard," either. It does support "OpenCL" and Grand Central Dispatch, though. It is not capable of running macOS Sierra (10.12) or subsequent versions of the macOS at all.

Excellent analysis Gents! I have another issue that so far, is unresolved.

My newer MBP 2017, 3.1GHz, 16GB, 1TB SSD, OSX10.14.2

I have a Magic Track Pad 2 that intermittently will allow the pointer to drift. Sometimes it's a momentary issue other times it lasts a while.

Apple suggested and approved replacing the first TP that I purchased with the MBP. The replacement was a refurbished unit from the Apple store. No improvement ... exact same symptoms. Any thoughts?
