How can I update my OS from 10.11.6 to 10.12?

I have a iMac 27" mid 2010 that needs to update OS to 10.12 or higher. Is this possible?

Yes you can upgrade to Sierra or High Sierra, both are still available.

How to upgrade to macOS High Sierra - Apple Support

scroll down to Section 4 and click on Get macOS....

Make a full back up of your Mac before upgrading.

Check with the developers of any third party apps you use that there are updated versions so they will continue to function in your chosen OS. Also check with manufacturers of any printers/ scanners etc for updated drivers and software updates so they will continue to work with the new OS.
