you can't record plug-in effect changes in GB (you can with Logic Pro X), you need to add them to a track manually.

turn on Automation:

in the track you wish to effect set the popUp menu to the effect setting you wish to change:

click once in the track to show the automation line, and then click and drag to add and change the automation points:

Sorry, it's just really difficult for me to explain, because I don't know what it is called.

I have a song I put into Garageband. To create a weird effect (I am using the song in a theatre play) I would like to use pitch shifter and change the pitch up and down several times, so you can hear the pitch change. I have found pitch shifter in the program and I can change the pitch while the song is playing. Now my question is how to record that so I don't have to sit and do it manually every time.

I think I know what you mean - you want to record the automation for the pitch changes rather than put them in manually, right?

I'm sure that if you move the pitch around in the pitch changer while recording, it will remember what you did and will record that information. I could be wrong, though, but I'm sure I've seen something like this done before. I hope you know what I mean, and that you get this solved soon :)

Yes, that is what I mean. The problem though is that the song is already a finished song and I only want the program to record the pitch being changed while the song i playing.

I have done it in Cubase some years ago and I am sure it is possible! I just do not know how
