How do I get my Cannon Image Garden and My Microsoft Office suite to work again? I can not find any step by step instructions for people like me over 40 who are lost.

I have a 6 year old Mac Book Pro the last generation with a CD Drive. I have had a cannon printer with Image Garden and Microsoft Office and they will not open up anymore. They say "it not compatible" I can find any instructions on how to get them running again. I am not a tech person at all so I need dummy instructions. Hope someone can help me. Thanks

I'm over 70 so I need more information on the problem, starting with your MacBook Pro's sub-model (there are well over 100 and not all are created equally) and the version of the macOS it is running. Both are available from going to your Apple menu and selecting "About this Mac..."

The resulting screen will have the sub-model and operating system version:

Also what version of Office are you running? Office 2000; 2004, 2008, 2011, etc

Did they stop working after a software upgrade or update?

Thanks!

This Canon web page: https://www.canondrivers.org/image-garden-software-application/

does not show macOS compatibility for "Image Garden" past macOS 10.12 "Sierra." Given how much trouble I had finding references to that software on their site, I suspect they may have replaced Image Garden with another software package or abandoned it.

So first check the Mac App Store "Updates" tab to see if Apple have released new printer software on Canon's behalf--sometime they do. If something is listed, get it. Installation will be automated so you don't have to jump through hoops.

Rather than send you barefoot into the Canon Support Minefield, it may work better if you look at your printer and tell us its model, numbers as all. Examples: PIXMA iX6520; PIXMA MX350; etc. Then we can do the Minefield for you and see what is available from Canon and give you a direct link.

Right now I'm still thinking they've discontinued Image Garden.

Your apps need to be updated to be compatible. If there is no update, you will need to buy the new versions. This happens all the time, developers will not support or update for free forever or they would go out of business.

As for the Canon software, you should look into what is already on your Mac, it is probably just as good and won’t cost extra.
