Apple Watch No Longer Unlocks Mac

I recently bought a used MacBook Air and had it set up to unlock with my Apple Watch series 3. This worked for a couple weeks. Recently, it no longer unlocks and I have to manually enter my password. When I tried to disable this feature and set it up again, it said my mac was unable to communicate with my Apple Watch? Their software is up to date so I'm not sure why suddenly it no longer works.

Can't explain why it changed. However...

Set it up from the Mac. System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General
