@me.com and @icloud.com

I have 2 accounts which I must have created in the past. As they are both with Apple I wondered if they are the same or 2 separate accounts? If they are separate does it make any difference which one I keep and is it possible to delete the other.

I also have a business email @me.com which I would like to delete too.

Hello Jeremy,

I think I have successfully deleted my old business Apple ID.

When I go to check my Apple ID for my personal account and go to ‘Manage your Apple ID’ , ‘Update your Apple ID email address’ - Edit, the email addresses are all there - yahoo, me.com & iCloud.com. When I click on the ‘?’ Button for Yahoo this indicates this is my Apple ID. When I click on ‘?’ Button for me.com and iCloud.com the message is ‘This is an alias of your Apple ID email

address’.

So apologies but I’m still not sure if they are separate email addresses or the same. When I use my MacBook Pro it comes from the me.com account but if I use my iPhone or iPads it comes from iCloud.com.

I want to change my personal email account as I have now retired and would like to use the me.com or iCloud.com but I’m not sure which email account to keep and which to delete.

Thanks.

Angie

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, PoSnow!

I understand you have two Apple ID accounts and you want to know if they are separate and also if you can delete them. I'd be happy to provide information to help you figure out what's happening.

Start out by going to manage your Apple ID. If both of those accounts show up as Apple ID and alias, then they are the same: Create, manage, and use an Apple ID

If you determine that they're not the same account, use the steps here to delete the account if you wish: How to delete your Apple ID account

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Have a great day!

Hey Angie!

If both the @me.com and @iCloud.com are showing up as aliases along with your Yahoo account, then they are all linked together. You would not be able to delete the @me or @iCloud emails, however, you can change your Yahoo account to another email provider.

Have a look at this article: Change your Apple ID

I hope this clears things up for you.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
