Voice Memos not saved

Voice Memos doesn't seem to be saving long recordings on my Mac, or anywhere that I can see.

(Apologies for posting to the macOS Mojave topic forum, I could not find Voice Memos under the topics list.)

I tried using Voice Memos to save outdoor sounds I had recorded (lossless) at length using an external microphone. I've noticed the longer the recording, the longer it takes from the time I select Done in Voice Memos to save as a file in the list on the left side of the Voice Memos window. I have Voice Memos turned off for iCloud because of the file size I expected a long recording to make and I wanted it saved only locally to the Mac.

Anyone have a clue as to why the recording would not have saved or where it might be hiding on the internal drive (folder)?
