Which Apple Pencil for iPad Pro (10.5") Model A1701?
I'm looking to use my Ipad as a notepad. Can the Apple pencil do this?

The original Apple Pencil is what you want. The newer generation Apple Pencil 2 will not work on the 10.5" iPad Pro.
