Classroom App on Both Mac & iPad

We are 1:1 with iPads in our school. I have a MacBook Air, iMac, and iPad. I was excited to see that the classroom app has been released for Mac and our school finally let us update our computers to Mojave. I have all of my classes set up on my iPad. Is there a way to transfer those over to the Classroom app on my Mac? I couldn't see a way when I downloaded it.

I am an elementary school librarian and I see 31 classes once a week for forty minutes. I really don't want to take the time to set up those classes again on my Macs, but I'd like to be able to use any device to monitor what they are doing.

We are on JAMPF and Meraki (Meraki is being phased out as we move to JAMPF).

We we don’t have managed Apple IDs, so we have to configure the Classroom app ourselves. All of the teachers are responsible for setting up the classroom app themselves.

We have not not updated all iPads to iOS 12 yet (we had a compatibility issue) and we won’t update all this year due to standardized testing being done on iPads. iPads have to be on iOS 12 to be set up in the classroom app on a Mac, so this will be a problem that I tackle next year.

When you look at Classroom on the MacBook, the Teacher Created classes are not showing up correct?

Confirming that you are using the same Apple ID for both devices, there is nothing in the documentation specifying either way. I will be seeing some friends tomorrow that did some of those types of set ups when it first came out and I will try and bounce it off of them as well.

If your school is using an MDM service such as JAMF it should import all of the classes that are already set up on your iPad. If you had to manually set them up on the iPad then most likely you will will again have to manually have to set up the classes again.

It is unusual for a school to be in a 1:1 situation with no MDM so check with your IT administrator and make sure that the settings are correct for your profile in whichever system your particular school is using.
