Installing Windows 10 Via Boot Camp Assistant

Hey all,

I was installing Windows 10 using the Boot Camp Assistant. I got through downloading and updating software and restarting while booting up with Windows. I got the set up asking for country and language, but then the next part wanted to me to select something and click next? Noticed that the highlighted item was blank but hit next anyway and quickly got a message about not being able to see image before it started to restart again, booting up with Mac OS. No idea what happened or what to do next. I looked at Disk Utility and the partition was definitely made, but I can't start up with it- Start up disk only shows the Mac hard drive.

Info needed to help me"

Ok, panick time is over - saw that this was a common error and found these directions:

  • Type in 'Run' in your windows search box and click the 'Run Desktop App' in the choices
  • Type in 'msconfig' in the box and press OK
  • The System Configuration Utility comes up
  • Click the Boot tab
  • Check the box that says 'No GUI boot' and click OK
  • Click Restart and hold down the Option key
  • You should now see OS X and Recovery as boot options
  • Enter Recovery and run Startup Disk from the Apple menu to set your default boot drive to OS X
  • Restart holding no buttons down and you should auto boot into El Capitan

It worked and found my Mac OS drive. Phew! Though, I didn't see a recovery as an option - just the Windows and my Mac HDD.

All is well.

Ok, it happened again. Got past the language (English US) and got to the part where I'm to pick operating system I want to install, but it's blank - nothing there. It's hiighlighting something, but nothing there nor any description. When I click NEXT, the error I get is "Windows could not display images available for installation"

Sigh.

A bad file? If so, wouldn't I get an error message at the beginning?

Sigh - I thought all was well - Got through the downloads / setting up. I downloaded all the updates> Was finished with the Windows part and wanted to go back to Mac. Went to Bootcamp and selected Restart with OS X.... computer restarted but loaded as Windows, not Mac. Then I want to Boot Camp and selected control panel and the ONLY disk I see to start up on is the Windows/ MAC IS GONE!! I KNOW I partitions it during the Boot Camp Assistant. Time. I gave Windows 200GB and Mac OS 600+ GB. WTH! Does this mean I've lost all my Mac Files now?

I swear, I'm getting so frustrated. Nothing is ever straight forward!

I don't know Windows at all,so if you need to see some coding / tech info, like the Diskutil List - tell me where to go to find it please.

Thank you.
