How do I enter target display mode with a non-apple keyboard?

Tried running

osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to key code 144 using command down'

Nothing

Tried CMD+F2

Nothing

Tried CMD+FN+F2

Nothing

Tried Installing an external app "1Keyboard"

Nothing

TDM is really hard to activate.

Apple Engineers Why would you make it almost imposible to enter Target Display Mode?

Should be able to just plug it in and automatically recognize that your trying to use it as a screen maybe pull a popup window to ask which computer should target. JUST LIKE ANY OTHER EXTERNAL SCREEN

Seems so retrograde in this day an age to have such a hard time just to use a computer as an external screen.
