Renaming pictures

How do you rename a picture while in iPhoto? I prefer NOT to see names like IMG1234 but a name that actually describes the photo. If I get into the picture info screen, it will not let me change the picture name...why?

You cannot change the filename directly in Photos, but you can add a title to the photo in the Title field in the info. Or type the title directly below the thumbnail, where currently the filename is displayed. To see the titles below the thumbnails, enable "View > Metadata > Titles.


For example: Type into the textfields marked by the red arrows.
