Adding Applications folder to MAC dock

I want to add my entire Applications folder in Finder onto my dock on a Mac-Mini using IOS Sierra. I have tried dragging the Applications folder from my HD drive in Finder, but it won't stay. Also dragging Applications from the left column of Finder does not work either. Individual apps can be mounted easily, but I want the entire folder available in "one" click. Advice??

Mac mini, 10.12

Drag it from Finder (Mac HD/Applications, not sidebar) and put it to the right hand side of the divider near the Trash can.
