APFS vs Mac OS Journaled

Hi -

I recently purchased a new SSD drive in order to do a clean install of High Sierra on my late 2011 MacBook Pro. I kept my old SSD installed and put the new SSD into an external bay and installed High Sierra while the new SSD was in the external bay.. I then swapped out the SSD drives and it booted up as High Sierra on the new SSD.

The only issue is that since I installed High Sierra while the SSD was in the external bay, it didn't give me an opportunity to format the new SSD for APFS. I could only select Mac OS Journaled.

I am now wondering whether it's worth it for me at this point to re-install High Sierra so I can format the SSD as APFS or if it's not worth it at this point.

Any feedback on pros/cons would be appreciated.

Thanks

First there is no harm in HFS+ as it is.

From DiskUtility you can convert HFS to APFS on the fly, this can be down from Recovery, or a bootable USBinstaller.
