My MacBook Pro 15” 2017 was stolen during a trip to Guatemala.
I would like to know how to report the serial number to apple, so they can register that serial number belongs to a stolen Mac. (I do have the serial number).

Apple does not get involved with stolen hardware. Report it to the police.

Sorry, but there is no place for you to report a stolen device or computer. You can report it to the police, but there is no central database for stolen devices:
