Harmann Kardon Onyx Studio 5 Speaker issue

Hi folks,

ever since I bought this speaker for my new MacBook Pro 15, the 2018 model, I noticed an issue that I would never get on my iPhone.

The bluetooth speaker connects, the speaker actually acknowledges it with a pairing successful sound, I can also see it at the top bar on the Macbook, the sound preferences are set to the Bluetooth speaker as well but yet I still get no sound from it. It works after you re-pair everything, or sometimes it will work from the first try. Overall very inconsistent experience. I know it's not the speaker because it works fine on my iPhone.

All help much appreciated,

Thanks!

Matt

I used one from Logitech with permanent power supply. At least, this one is reliable ;).

Also did not found out the logic, when the HK speaker disconnect, sometimes very wired.

For me, searching songs on YouTube is a permanent activity. So one switch off criteria is the time between two songs,

if they are not played immediately after each other with an interruption of maybe one minute, bluetooth connection brake..

If you don't mind reset HK speaker every time you want to connect it to Macbook, actually there is a work around to control the speaker volume by re-routing the signal. You need to install the latest version of Soundflower, then choose the input of soundflower (2ch) as HK speaker while the output of your macbook is soundflower (2ch). Then you will be able to control the volume.
