Import AVI file onto iPad

Have video files from camera that have AVI extension. Is there anyway to import them onto iPad so I can convert them to see them? I do not have a computer, just an iPad. Is there a way to get the files to go elsewhere on iPad besides photo library?

Thanks

Without getting them into Photos or an iTunes libary and into an Apple-friendly format (AVI is a somewhat out of date format) it will be problematic using them with an iPad. i-devices are still not truly stand-alone devices but require a computer for some things. As stated, you can probably play them with VLC but the trick will be getting them onto the iPad, particularly if you do not have access to a computer. The other ways I can think of such as using a cloud service such as Dropbox or Google Drive will require using a computer.
