Receiving spam text messages appear to be sent to myself from my iPhone

Is anyone else receiving spam text messages that appear to be sent from your own iPhone? It shows as the contact person sending is myself as if I am sending myself a text message. But it’s all spam and phishing text messages.

does my phone have a virus or can I stop this from happening?

just started happening the past three days. I obviously can’t block my own phone number otherwise phone calls coming from my kids on the house phone won’t get through to my cellphone.

Good morning Flynd204!

I see that you're having some trouble with spam text messages that appear to be sent from your number.

Just to confirm, is it only showing your name but the number is not your own? You can check by opening the text message thread. Click the contact icon at the top > tap the info icon > then click the contact listing here for its details. Is the number not your own? If that's the case, use these steps to block and report the spam text as it will not block your actual phone number: Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support As noted in the resource, the contact name is not always accurate when it comes to spam/phishing text messages.

When reporting messages received through iMessage, the number usually gets blocked as well but if it's a text message you'll need to use these steps to block the number: Block phone numbers and contacts on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Take care.

Hey Flynd204 ,

Thanks you for following up with that additional information. At this point, I would recommend changing the password associated with your Apple ID. Here's the steps to follow for this: If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support

If after resetting your password you are still receiving these spam text messages, Contact Apple Support directly for further investigation.

Have a good day.

I wish it wasn’t coming from my contact info. When I click contact icon it opens up my contact info in the address book.

i tried blocking the contact but it ended up blocking my all my contact info essentially I couldn’t call my iPhone from our house phone because my contact was blocked.

i really don’t know how this is happening. Very frustrating as i am concerned someone is using my celllhone info wjthiht my consenr.
