Problem with chinese characters displayed in iPhone mail app

Hi, please there is a problem already reported to Apple many months ago. The problem happens with mails sent with Outlook for iOS and read with the native iOS Mail app email client when the message contains characters that have diacritical marks (í, ü), the message appears as chinese letters in the Mail app. Microsoft problem report: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4459983/apple-mail-app-renders-messages-that-have-accented-characters-incorrec

Do Apple have a solution for this problem? We have many iPhone users in our company complaining with the lack of solution for this issue.

PS. Try adding a dingbat to force utf8 encoding in outlook.

I get messages galore in several languages and I have not noticed a problem, most messages are HTML and are properly formatted.

I see Japanese, simplified Chinese and Korean without problems

His problem is that he gets Chinese when he is supposed to get German or some other language with accented latin letters.

The problem happens only with all of these conditions met (always happens):

You send an email message from the Microsoft Outlook for iOS or Microsoft Outlook for Android mobile client.
The message contains characters that have diacritical marks (for example, ü, ä, ú).
A recipient reads the message on the native iOS Mail.app email client.

I’ve seen this problem too. You’re not talking to apple here, just other users like yourself, and we have no info on what apple might be doing about it. Strange that only Outlook causes it. I have heard that it displays ok if you use webmail instead of the mail.app.
