Block This Caller option does not appear on info screen for recent calls

On my iPhone 6 using IOS 12, I have the option to block a phone number by scrolling through the Recents menu in the Phone app, selecting the "i" button to open up an information menu for that number, and then scrolling down to the bottom of the screen and selecting "Block this Caller." However this option does not appear on the same phone, running the same IOS that my mother is using. You can press the “i” button and get info for the number, but there is no option to block the number. How do we change this and enable the option to block a number through the info screen? What am I missing here?The only method available to block an unknown caller on her iPhone is to add the unknown caller to her contacts assigning a bogus name and then go through the Settings|Call Blocking & Identification|Block Contacts and block the newly added contact. This is tedious and unacceptable as I know she should have the same option I have. Thanks!

Yes, I can block unknown callers by going to my RECENTS to view recent calls and I then press the “i” on the far right of the caller number I wish to block. A contact screen pops up with several options... along with several other options, I can create a new contact for this number, add this number to an existing contact or BLOCK this caller (usually have to scroll down to see the BLOCK option). This works fine on my phone, but my mom’s phone using same IOS 12 does not work this way which is why I posted this in the forum hoping someone might give insight as to why this might be (another setting somewhere that needed to be adjusted perhaps)?

Are you saying you have the option to block unknown callers from the recent list on your phone?

I don't see an option to block on my XSMax or my X to block unknown callers from my recent.

Thanks for clarifying, ok I have that option as well.

There is no settings that I know of, she can double check her restriction/screen time

Unknown Caller as in a telephone number with city-state listed below the number and that’s all. Could legitimately be someone you know but just not in your contact list, but it’s usually sales call, political call, lower-your-interest-rate call, etc.

Unknown as no caller id right? Or an unknown number that has a phone number?
