Why does my iPhone 6 keep asking me to connect to a wireless network?

My iPhone 6 is constantly asking me to Select a Wireless Network when I am using my mobile signal (and not Wi-fi) despite cancelling constantly and also even though I have disabled “Ask to join networks”

i am currently running IOS 12.1.2 is this an issue that an upgrade will rectify??

it will even occasionally ask when I am connected to the Wi-fi!

my daughter is having the same issue (same phone and software)

iPhone 6, 12

If you are sure you have turned off "ask to join networks" it should not prompt you to select a network. You might try Settings/General/Reset - reset network settings. This will clear out the network database and restore it to its default. The only data loss will be Wi-Fi passwords, so you will have to log in to any networks that you want to join again. And then go back to Settings/Wi-Fi and turn off Ask to Join Networks if it is back on.
