In typing emails my cursor often skips to the next line when I use a capital letter - a name or whatever, and sometimes before an exclamation mark it also skips to the next line... It's so weird. I have to go back and delete to put the sentences, etc. back together. I've tried restoring keyboard defaults and restarting a couple times. I don't know what to try next.

Apple Mail client, or other product? Are you grazing the trackpad with your hand or clothing when typing in Mail? Is the sensitivity of your trackpad set too high (e.g. System Preferences : Trackpad)?
I checked the trackpad- seems normal. I don't think I'm touching the trackpad when I type - I've had the computer for a couple years and only ran into this problem perhaps a week ago. I'm the only user, but I'm wondering if I inadvertently reset something? Idk.
I tried it using a guest admin, but it's the same problem. I'm going to type something random to show what I'm talking about:

Using any other external mouse, or input device (e.g. Wacom), or have you installed any software package lately that seems to have provoked this input activity?
