Battery icon showing red and battery warning popping up even thought it is near fully charged

Just recently replaced that battery on my late 2009 MacBook, and has all been running fine until just now I noticed that the battery icon was showing red, even thought it was at around 80-90%. When I clocked on the battery icon to see the statuses, nothing showed that there is anything wrong. I googled it but didn't find much, and then I went to the system settings to try and figure out what the problem was when the low battery alert came up, even though it was still at around 82%? Could this be a hidden problem or just a glitch? Thanks.
