Macbook pro 13 " 2017 model latest mojave
Ipad pro late 2018 - 11" latest ios
Cable plugged between the two devices.
On MBP select quiktime and screen recording, select iPad as source.
It recognises iPad, starts recording but then craps out after a few seconds saying there is no device connected.
Tried different cable also does not work work with iPad pro 10.5"
Any ideas please.

Yes understand this but this is a multistep process as the video still needs to be transferred to MBP.
The cable method with quicktime on MBP should work but does not fully.
Thanks but doing that and it starts to record than looses connection to iPad after a few seconds.
If you are trying to record your iPad's screen from your Mac using QuickTime Player, from the menubar choose File > New Movie Recording not New Screen Recording.
