Pagemill was a very nice HTML editor for its time. It had one of the best WYSIWYG features for creating webpages. It did have some limitations though. IMG HEIGHT and WIDTH tags sometimes were forced to the size of the image, which made ALT tags invisible when loading the website without images. Additionally, It was I believe limited to HTML 3 for actual WYSIWYG settings.
If you want any newer HTML settings, you'll need a newer web page editor. So few people use web browsers of that age anymore, the improvements of using the WYSIWYG portions of the editing for today are limited, when compared to a true text editor like Textwrangler or BBEdit. You may find older Mac OS 9 versions of these http://www.barebones.com/
Each of them had easy to launch preview in external browser shortcuts.
Wow, does that bring back memories! I used PageMill 3.0 ages ago -- and I do mean like over 20 years ago -- to design my first website. At the time, it was a pretty nifty program for those of us web design noobies who did not know how to write actual HTML code in a plain text document. Like Mr. Brody above, as I gained more experience, I eventually graduated to using BBEdit to design my web pages, and that is the way it has been ever since. The only thing I recall not liking about PageMill, is that it injected some unnecessary code into HTML documents. I can't even remember what it was now, but I always removed it, once I started using BBEdit.
