Is this a scam?

About once a week I get this email:

Your Apple ID was locked due to security reasons. We have detected a sign-in from an unknown device and an unusual activity from your account.

Please verify your identity within 24 hours or your account will be disabled due to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the Apple Community.

Use this link https://appleid.apple.com to verify your account.

Sincerely

Apple

I never click on the link. I am wondering if this has some truth to it or is it a scam?

Apple won't send you an email/text telling you your account is disabled. You will find out the next time you try to log in somewhere.

Avoid phishing emails, fake ‘virus‘ alerts, phony support calls, and other scams

Identifying legitimate emails from the iTunes Store

Send the e-mail to Apple as an attachment to a new e-mail before deleting it. You can forward as an attachment by going to Mail/Message/Forward as attachment. You won’t receive a response.
